ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Jill! I am glad that you are visiting my site to learn more about me and how I can provide individualized or small group instruction to help you or your child reach goals, gain confidence, and improve skills.

I was born and raised in the Philadelphia area, and graduated from The Philadelphia High School For Girls. I went on to West Chester University where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Special Education in 1983.

After graduating, I began my career in Early Childhood Education and Development. Several years later, I transitioned to the Philadelphia School District where I worked as a Resource Room teacher for students needing Learning, Emotional/Behavioral, and Gifted/Enrichment Support.

I developed and implemented Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for countless students with learning disabilities, ADHD, ASD, and other academic challenges. I became the Special Education Liaison for my school and was a parent advocate. I believe parents play a vital role in the IEP process and supporting the success of their children.

During this time, I also worked as a Hebrew School teacher and pioneered Jewish Special Education programs that gave access to religious school for children with special needs. Many of these children would go on to read Hebrew and become a Bar/Bat Mitzvah.

When I retired from the classroom, I continued my passion for teaching by tutoring students from preschool to adult in most academic subject areas. After working with a young lady with learning disabilities whose native language is Spanish, I began teaching English as a second language (ESL). Many of my English language learners include children and adults who speak Mandarin, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Hebrew, etc.

I pride myself on the ability to motivate and inspire my students to set goals and reach higher. Each time one of my students achieves success, a newfound confidence and self-esteem is gained. I instill a love of learning and encourage my students to become ambitious and push harder with great fortitude. By partnering with my student’s school and family, together we help develop a confident, independent, and lifelong learner.

I would love the opportunity to meet with you to see how I can be a great resource and support for you or your child. Visit my contact page to see how to get in touch with me for an assessment and quote, and check out my testimonial page to see what my students and parents have to say about me.
